Victory Race Events

The Cheyenne Mountain Stampede Cross Country Course is the home to one of the most unique high school cross country events in Colorado.  The venue of The Norris Penrose Equestrian Center and Bear Creek Park have hosted many large scale events, but the combined venue will not only host the CM Stampede Cross Country 5k it will also be the home of the Colorado High School State Championship.  The stunning setting has views of Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Mountain, and sits at the base of the Rocky Mountains.

The course itself is mostly made up of the typical surface that most Coloradans train and race on-decomposed granite, but there are several other features that make this a true cross country course.  Runners will run through two show barns, cross four bridges, traverse through a water feature twice, and navigate through a buffalo grass section.  Athletes are sure to get plenty of dirt and mud on them before they return to a unique finish inside the Norris Penrose Equestrian Center.  The first mile of the course is relatively flat and the one mile marker is a short walk from the start.  The second mile is by far the most challenging, with the a two tenths of a mile climb that will take the runners to one of the most spectacular views in Colorado as they approach the top, just before the two mile marker.  Athletes will be greeted to a gentle descent for the next half mile before approaching the return through the trees, bridges and stadium finish.

Although the CM Stampede is only open to high school teams, we will be opening up a citizen race in the near future.  This will give non-high school runners a chance to compare their times with Colorado's best high school runners.

Come one, come all to run a mile on the Cheyenne Mountain High School Track.

The races are open to all ages
We also offer a free kiddie quarter-mile for runners under 6 years old. Fun for the whole family!

We have pacers helping in each race.

We will have heats based on goal finish time as follows::

sub 10 minute mile
sub 9 minute mile
sub 8 minute mile
sub 7 minute mile
sub 6 minute mile
